Temptation Cancun Resort is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort at kilometre 3.5 of Boulevard Kukulcán, near the northern end of Cancún's Hotel Zone. Guests must be 21 or older. Its identity is fun, flirtation and parties: pool DJs, theme nights, games and a topless-optional policy in designated areas. It is important to describe it accurately. Temptation is not a swingers resort and not a nudist resort. It is a "playful" adults-only hotel where open-minded guests feel welcome, operated by Original Group, the same company that runs the couples-only, clothing-optional Desire resorts in Puerto Morelos.
What to expect
- Topless-optional areas. The resort's designated pools, jacuzzi and beach areas are top-optional. Full nudity is not part of the concept.
- A party atmosphere. Daytime pool parties, games and evening themes set a lively, social tone. There are also quieter areas for guests who want to rest.
- The Tower. A section of the resort marketed for guests who want to be closer to the action, with its own room categories.
- All-inclusive. Restaurants, bars and entertainment are included in the rate; some services, such as spa treatments, may cost extra.
Themes, facilities and house rules change, so read the current programme and FAQs on the official site before booking.
Who it suits
- Couples curious about the lifestyle who want a flirtatious, sociable environment without any expectation of nudity or swapping.
- Groups of adult friends looking for a party resort in Cancún.
- Lifestyle couples who enjoy a social resort and meeting like-minded people, while understanding that most guests are not in the lifestyle.
It does not suit naturists looking for a nude beach, or couples who want a strictly couples-only, clothing-optional resort. For those, compare Hidden Beach Resort and the Desire resorts.
Best time to go
November to April is the dry season, with the most comfortable temperatures and the highest prices. Spring break brings large crowds to Cancún in March. Summer is hot and humid, the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, and sargassum seaweed can affect Caribbean beaches in spring and summer. Check recent reports and book flexibly outside the dry season.
Getting there
Cancún International Airport (CUN) is roughly 20 to 30 minutes from the resort by road. Pre-book a transfer with the resort or a reputable operator and ignore unsolicited offers in the arrivals hall. The Hotel Zone is served by frequent local buses along Boulevard Kukulcán, and downtown Cancún is a short ride away.
Etiquette and local rules
- Topless only where designated. Cover up in restaurants, the lobby and anywhere outside the marked areas.
- Ask before you approach. Flirting is part of the atmosphere, but a friendly chat is not an invitation to anything more. Respect a no immediately.
- No photography of other guests, especially in top-optional areas.
- Outside the resort, Cancún's public beaches are family beaches; topless sunbathing there is not appropriate.
Legal notes
Mexico has no national nude beach network, and nudity on public beaches is generally not accepted; the only beach in Mexico where nudity is legally recognised is Playa Zipolite in Oaxaca. Inside private resorts, the resort's own policy applies. Public sexual behaviour is illegal everywhere.
Safety and consent
The combination of an open bar and a party crowd calls for extra care. Keep an eye on your drinks, pace yourself, and agree boundaries with your partner before the evening starts. Consent must be clear, sober and ongoing. Use the in-room safe, and take registered taxis or the resort's transport when going out at night.
Nearby
Cancún is a good base for day trips to Isla Mujeres, the cenotes of the Yucatán and Mayan sites such as Chichén Itzá or Tulum. Couples wanting to go further than Temptation's playful concept often move on to Desire in nearby Puerto Morelos. Browse members in Mexico to connect with other travellers.
