Euronat is a naturist holiday centre on the Atlantic coast of the Médoc peninsula, a few kilometres north of CHM Montalivet. Opened in 1975 by Hubert Lacroix, it covers 335 hectares of pine forest, which makes it the largest naturist holiday centre in Europe by area. It has a 1.5-kilometre naturist beach with supervised bathing, chalets and mobile homes, dedicated camping and caravan areas, heated pools including a 25-metre indoor pool, and a thalassotherapy centre offering seawater treatments, massages and fitness classes.
Euronat describes itself as an intergenerational place where families, spa guests and long-time regulars mix. It is a classic, family naturist destination.
Who it suits
- Naturist families who want space, nature and activities for children.
- Couples and older guests attracted by the thalassotherapy centre and the calm pace.
- Newcomers to naturism, thanks to a welcoming, well-organised environment.
- Lifestyle couples who want a restful nude holiday and are comfortable with a strictly non-sexual family atmosphere.
Single guests are accepted, but Euronat's own FAQ says they need a valid naturist licence or proof of a previous stay at a naturist centre in France.
What to expect
Accommodation is spread through the forest in separate areas for chalets, mobile homes, touring caravans and tents. Daily life is outdoors: the beach, cycling on forest paths, pools, sports and children's activities in season. The thalassotherapy centre is one of Euronat's distinctive features, and treatments can be booked separately. Shops and restaurants inside the centre cover everyday needs, and the nearby towns of Soulac-sur-Mer and Montalivet-les-Bains have more.
Best time to go
For 2026 Euronat opened from 1 April to 31 October; dates change from year to year, so confirm them on the official site. July and August are warm, busy and full of families. June and September are quieter and often very pleasant. Spring and October are good for spa breaks, though the Atlantic is cool for swimming.
Getting there
- By air: Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport (BOD) is the nearest major airport, roughly one and a half to two hours away by road.
- By train: Regional trains run from Bordeaux up the Médoc; a car or transfer is still needed for the last stretch.
- By car: Drive north-west from Bordeaux through the Médoc wine country to Grayan-et-l'Hôpital.
- By ferry: From the north, the Royan–Le Verdon car ferry across the Gironde estuary is a scenic shortcut.
Rules and etiquette
- Naturism is the norm on the beach, at the pools and in outdoor communal spaces. Some indoor spaces or cooler days may call for clothing; follow the centre's rules.
- Towel etiquette applies everywhere you sit.
- Photography of other guests without consent is unacceptable in any naturist setting; check Euronat's rules on cameras in common areas.
- Respect children and families. Any sexualised behaviour in public areas leads to removal.
Legal notes
In France, naturism is lawful in authorised places such as naturist centres and designated beaches, while sexual exhibition in public view is a criminal offence under the Penal Code. Euronat's beach is part of the naturist centre's designated area.
Safety
The Atlantic surf can be powerful. Swim only in the supervised zones and follow the lifeguards' flags. The sea breeze hides the strength of the sun, so use high-factor sunscreen. In dry summers, respect forest fire-safety rules strictly.
Nearby
CHM Montalivet is next door along the coast. The Médoc's great wine châteaux around Pauillac and Margaux make a good day out, and Soulac-sur-Mer has a pretty seaside centre. Browse naturist places in France or compare with the Mediterranean Cap d'Agde naturist village.
